Another Look At Mary Kelly's Heart - Pt. 2: Further Revelations

After the original of the preceding (updated) article, 'Another Look At Mary Kelly's Heart', was published in 'The Criminologist’ in 1998, [1] I discovered two items in an old-days newspaper which show that my supposition that Dr. Hebbert was actively involved in the examination of Ripper victim Mary Kelly's remains, alongside his superior Dr. Bond, or was at least present at her post-mortem proper, was correct: The Echo of November 10, 1888, stated that 'the post-mortem examination-in-chief was only commenced this morning at the early hour of half-past seven, when Dr. Phillips, Dr. Bond, Dr. Hibbert [sic], and other experts attended.' Also, that this was held at the mortuary on that occasion because Kelly's room 'was ill-adapted for the purpose of carrying out a complete autopsy'. (It is, of course, scarcely usual to hold an autopsy at a crime scene in any case, but Kelly's remains were in so many pieces that the experts may have preferred to conduct it there if at all practicable, especially since they had to see whether any organ was missing from the room before taking the remains to the mortuary. …
